I love Monkey Island and Sam and Max Hit the Road to death and consider the adventure genre one of my favorites, but I can’t pretend that the dialogue and noninteractive story sequences, however funny, can often feel boring and uninvolving that the endless backtrack-heavy inventory puzzles spread across dozens of different locations are confusing and not particularly rewarding to solve that pixel hunting is an absolute pain in the ass and should be avoided at all costs. It understands that most adventure games, even the “classics,” just aren’t that good. Machinarium, more so than most adventure games I’ve played, understands its own genre enough to ignore its conventions. Publisher: Amanita Design, Steam, Direc2Drive, Impulse, GamersGate I know I was pretty harsh on the game in our preview a few months ago, but thanks to a new hint system and a few more hours of playtime, I can confidently type the three boldface words that adorn the header of every review I write for a great adventure game that I fear might not sell enough copies to support its developers: I don’t know if I prefer it outright over the motion-controlled glory that is Zack and Wiki, or the wacky time-travel-laffs of Chariots of the Dogs, but I do know that if you’re even remotely interested in adventure or puzzle games, you’d be a complete fool not to check out Machinarium. The story of the Machinarium is therefore about two sides struggling to achieve their goals, with some good elements present in the mix of the narrative and the music too.Machinarium may be the best adventure game I’ve ever played. Meanwhile, the Autobots were struggling to make good use of the Omega Supreme Egg that contains the Matrix of All Creation in order to save the universe. This gave the humans the time they needed to put an end to Megatronus' plans once and for all. However, Megatronus and the other Decepticon leaders were soon aware of this scheme and decided to eliminate the robots once and for all. However, the Decepticons capture the legendary Optimus Prime and bring him to Earth in the body of a robot.Ī mysterious interloper called the Renegade stole the formula of the powerful Omega Supreme Egg of the Transformers from the authorities of the Decepticon base and used it to create six new robots which attacked the humans on several occasions. As part of an agreement between the Transformers, who rule the human race, and the humans, Megatronus creates a new Transformer known as Bumblebee to guard the city of Cybertron. The story is set sometime during the future after the destruction of human habitat on Mars and the rise of Megatronus, leader of the Decepticons. He resides there peacefully aside from battling rogue robots with the help of his robot friend Po. The story of the Machinarium revolves around a robotic dog named Mako who lives in the city of Metropolis with his owner Professorvaam. The challenges are further increased when using different weapons on each of the two screens, and the difficulty increases by unlocking more advanced weapons for use against the increasingly difficult challenges.
The enemies are likewise arrayed in distinct species with differing strengths, abilities, etc. From an objective viewpoint, the object of the game is to "fish" or "shoot" at the enemies with a range of weaponry that include bows, spears, bows again and arrows. It was launched on 16 October 2021 in Apple's App Store for both iOS and OS X, with the former running on a single screen while the latter using two monitors. Machinarium is a point-and-clicking puzzle game developed by Amanita Design Ltd.
